New Treatments for Cancer

This news is really exciting, especially for those who have cancer or are at risk of contracting the disease! This is not only in treating colon cancer, where this molecular complex has shown excellent results, but take advantage of curcumin per day have also yielded favorable results in treating cancers of other organs such as breast and prostate. It is also effective in reducing the risk of childhood leukemia and research on melanoma cells of the pancreas shows promising results.

Its ability to prevent the development of new blood vessels in the affected cells is what makes it a useful tool in the fight against the disease, while at the same time protect healthy cells, it also works by helping the treatment allopathic oncology to simulate the effects of paclitaxel, a chemotherapy drug.

Are you an apple or a pear?

Are you an apple or a pear?

I’m sure if I started to test your knowledge on a landlocked country called Uganda I would win hands down. Mainly because I lived there and know more about the country that most people in the UK and USA. As you can imagine, I was intrigued when I took an article claiming that colon cancer in Uganda is a fraction of that of the United Kingdom and USA. In colon cancer is the third species is the most common cancer here in the United Kingdom.

So why this difference?

Well firstly the average Ugandan defecates at least 2 times a day and when he defecates it is also much more than we … Charming! Can we say … but very important!

For some time now doctors have believed that colon cancer is linked to food and that is why it is so interesting. This is also why Uganda in May have the answer to reducing the incidence of colon cancer here in the United Kingdom.

Ugandans living on a diet of corn, potatoes, rice, fish, peanuts, berries and bananas mashed tasty. For they will add mango, pineapple and sweet bananas. Bananas are soft red skin and if you’ve never tasted let me tell you from experience that they are absolutely delicious!

But there is something else, Ugandans eat almost no meat. So they have a diet rich in fiber and low in fat, different from our diet low in fiber and fat as much fat from animal sources.

The news that we need to have a diet rich in fiber to keep our health settlers is not new, but what these statistics in Uganda do is save the theory all along that high fiber and low in fat reduces the risk of colon cancer. OK, so far as the protection of our colon is concerned about old news. What about looking at the foods that stimulate our colon?

OLGIOSACCHARIDES are what we want, and they come beautifully packaged in artichokes, asparagus, onions, garlic and mushrooms. All these products to promote colonic flora [bacteria]

Yogurt and fermented milk products containing live lactobacilli and promote other healthy microflora. The water helps to swell the fiber and promotes peristalsis [wavelike movements of the colon]. This in turn regulates the movement of the intestine and manages the content through.

It may also be a good time to develop a taste for fine wines.

Pop open that bottle of Merlot and enjoy knowing that you’re doing good. Drinking red wine has been shown to protect against colon cancer, where, like other alcohols have the opposite effect if you enjoy!

We’ve all been reminded recently, the level of obesity in the United Kingdom and USA. In the United Kingdom 17% of men and 21% of women are obese. Extra fat around the waist [the look Apple] increases the risk of colorectal cancer more than extra weight around the thighs or hips [look pear] Make it a priority to try to reach your weight and maintain it. Colon cancer is a real threat to the United Kingdom and the U.S. population, but it is in your power to reduce this threat. Reduce your body fat and increase your fiber, try to get your weight and give you a regular dose of red wine!

A colonoscopy May Save Your Life

A colonoscopy May Save Your Life

Colonoscopy and colonoscopy. They used to be high tech and rarely spoke. Now colonoscopies are so common and regularly both as a means of diagnosis, monitoring and as a course of preventative family members who are at high risk for disorders of the intestine of some and of course in families with a known high incidence of what is suspected to be a genetic predisposition to colon cancer and colon cancer. This procedure has become so commonplace and comfort that a patient after long exposure to the softness of her doctor – the gastroenterologist has been trained in its care, skill and procedure explained his choice of surgery was a day at the hospital where the procedure was done. In and out in one day, no fuss, no muss.

When asked he also proved that the day surgery for the colonoscopy procedure there was no anesthesia involved. That day, no observation at the clinic overnight or for several days – he is in and out procedure. It was found later in the explanation of the reason for day surgery was not fear of complications or concerns about anesthesia, or even the cost of the procedure because they are covered by a system of health care. The explanation for the choice of day surgery for the colonoscopy is that "this way, I do not have to pay for a car. I parked in the parking lot of the hospital with a free pass they give me. In the absence of anesthesia, it is a day surgery.I can do my own home and save money it would cost for a taxi. "It is a true story, but will show up in real terms, how the standard, simple and easy what was once the most specialized and often painful ordeal is now common and easily, just how and in most cases relatively painless.

In fact, colonoscopy is currently a relatively simple procedure that takes 30 minutes or less. Fearing, however, the test is not a reason not to. Having done a standard colonoscopy can save your life.

During a colonoscopy, endoscope – which is the qualified person performing the procedure – will insert a scope of colon and progress in the length of the colon. The scope of the colon has a light source itself, and transmits the image and the images from the colon on a display screen monitored by trained endoscopes. All this just as a TV and a television.

What is the procedure or can show or do. First what we look for the inflamed areas or areas of the diseased colon, inflamed or downright suspicious. If these areas are – say, a small growth or polyp, and endoscopes can actually take a sample or biopsy directly, so it can be tested and examined by a surgeon or a laboratory. Another good use for the test and procedure are for surveillance and monitoring. It is in families that have an increased risk in their family tree for, say, cancers of the colon, or perhaps someone had some problems or concerns in the past and, in essence, the doctor will see just the ’status of any change or changes if necessary.

However, a test of significance of the colon is not for everyone. This is not a test that you feel about something you should ask your doctor to have done. This is a serious test yet useful and its use is a risk versus benefit consideration. It belongs to both your physician and often a doctor gastroenterologist trained to determine if the test is justified for yourself or a loved member of the family.

Liver Cancer – Causes and Treatment

Liver Cancer – Causes and Treatment

Liver cancer occurs as a result of liver cells showing abnormal growth. Liver cells make up 80% of liver tissue. Thus, liver cancer occurs due to sudden and erratic growth in liver cells. In our liver is the body’s largest organ. Liver lobe is divided into right and left lobe.

The causes of this cancer are considered, HBV (Hepatitis B) infection, which is one cause of this cancer. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is responsible for this type of cancer, alcohol consumption, aflatoxin B1 (it is a chemical) found in some foods that have been stored in a hot and humid environment,

Common symptoms of this cancer are: unexpected weight loss, abdominal pain, jaundice.

Liver cancer can be diagnosed by blood test, a normal blood test does not provide many details. An analysis of blood caused by abnormal hormone production by cancer cells. If this test shows high red blood count, low sugar and blood calcium, the patient must be suffering from this cancer, a large quantity of cholesterol content may also be a reason.

Treatment depends on disease stage and age of the patient undergoing treatment. To achieve permanent cure, liver transplantation is the only way. Nowadays, many medical practitioners in May argues for a small tumor transplantation is not necessary, but the possibility of being completely cured resides in liver transplantation. Even after removal of the tumor, if we maintain the same liver, there is a possibility of liver cancer to occur again.

Some natural alternative treatments for liver cancer are the raw beet juice, bitter melon, cumin, cur and bee pollen can be useful in preventing cancer.

Ulcerative Colitis – Causes, symptoms and treatment methods

Ulcerative colitis (UC) refers to a disease in which the lining of the colon (large intestine) becomes inflamed. It occurs at any age. Disease May involve the entire colon (pancolitis), only the rectum (proctitis ulcerative colitis) or, more commonly, somewhere between the two. The amount of colon affected usually predicts the severity of the disease. The disease usually begins in the rectum or the rectum and sigmoid colon (the lower end of the large intestine), but may eventually spread over part or all of the large intestine. In patients suffering from ulcerative colitis, ulcers and inflammation of the lining of the colon head with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea and rectal bleeding. As Crohn’s disease, another common IBD, ulcerative colitis can be painful and debilitating and can sometimes lead to potentially fatal complications. Ulcerative colitis is a rare disease with an incidence of about one per 10,000 in North America. The disease tends to be more common in northern regions.

Ulcerative colitis is defined as mild, moderate or severe, depending on the frequency of diarrhea, the presence of blood and how generally unwell the person is. Ulcerative proctitis, which is limited to the rectum is very common and relatively benign form of ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is more common than Crohn’s disease. Disease May involve the entire colon (pancolitis), only the rectum (proctitis ulcerative colitis) or, more commonly, somewhere between the two. It can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms are similar to other intestinal disorders and to another type of IBD called Crohn’s disease. Blood tests and stool samples help diagnosis, but the key criterion is the examination of the intestine, and biopsy. It most often begins during adolescence and early adulthood, but they may also begin in childhood and later in life. Ulcerative colitis is an intermittent disease, with periods of exacerbated symptoms, and periods that are relatively symptom-free.

Causes of Ulcerative colitis

Common causes and risk factors of ulcerative colitis are:

Exective The cause of ulcerative colitis is unknown.

Abnormal activation of the immune system in the intestine.

A family history of ulcerative colitis.

Smoking.

Generalized increased reactivity against intestinal bacterial antigens.

Environmental factors such as nutrition and exposure to various infections.

The symptoms of ulcerative colitis

Some signs and symptoms associated with ulcerative colitis are:

Loss of body fluids and nutrients.

Weight loss.

Nausea.

Cramping abdominal pain.

Night sweats.

Fatigue.

Loss of appetite.

Fever.

Extreme fatigue.

Treatment of ulcerative colitis

Here is the list of methods of treatment of ulcerative colitis:

Aminosalicylates, drugs that contain 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), help control inflammation.

Drugs such as azathioprine and mercaptopurine have been used to maintain remission in people with ulcerative colitis who would otherwise need long-term corticosteroid therapy.

Taking nutritional supplements to restore growth and normal development in children and adolescents.

Steroids can help reduce inflammation, but they have many side effects, including a puffy face, excessive facial hair, night sweats, insomnia and hyperactivity. Long-term use of these drugs in children can lead to stunted growth.

Laxatives and antidiarrheal drugs.

Surgery is used in people who have severe symptoms that are not controlled by drugs that have unacceptable side effects of medication, or have a very high risk of colon cancer because of extensive inflammation throughout the colon.

Facts About Colon Cancer

October 4th, 2009

Facts About Colon Cancer

Colon cancer is the 3rd most common reason for cancer for men and the most common cause of cancer 4th for women. Cancer of the colon and rectum, also called colorectal cancer is most common among those who follow a diet like that of Western people in Asia or Africa who eat an eastern food.

The colon is the lower gastrointestinal tract used to treat waste *. At the end of the colon is the rectum from which waste is placed in the body. This pipe is along the large intestine. Polyps May to attack the walls of the digestive tract without causing problems. They are frequently found during a colonoscopy and can be removed during this process. Much of the time polyps are harmless, and not malignant.

Polyps are not removed from the large intestine can become cancerous if unnoticed for long enough. Malignant tumors can also cause harm to close organs or tissues. When cancer spreads to other areas, this is called metastasis. When cancer is found early and metastasis occurs, there is no chance of recovery.

Colorectal cancer is thought to be mainly linked to family history and diet. Some people seem more willing to get this cancer than others, even with all the ingredients of the diet and lifestyle is the same. Those who eat a diet rich in fat have a higher risk of colorectal cancer than those who eat a well balanced diet that is low in fat.The new findings which identified trans fatty acids in foods in many grocery stores and restaurants, said the risks hidden in the most common foods. Neither cancer nor obesity are common among those who eat vegetables, foods rich in fiber, whole grains and low fat meat or fish.

People with a history of ulcerative colitis should be closely monitored for colon cancer. With this prolonged condition, growth of colon polyps may increase because of cell damage. The benign polyps can揳cquire? or derive data from chromosomes of damaged cells in the colon that lead to cancer. After having ulcerative colitis for 10 years or more, the risk of colon cancer increases dramatically.

A hereditary link found to colon cancer exists between 1st degree family members of people who naturally have colon cancer. If there is a family history of colon cancer, the chance of obtaining it is 3 times greater than the risk for the population as a whole. Do not be complacent though. Only 20% of colorectal cancers occur in people who have a family history of this disease. The majority of colon cancers, four out of five in fact, affect those without family association to disease.

Colon cancer is a cause without the noise of death, which frequently have zero identifiable symptoms until it is too late. Early detection of a colonoscopy is the most reliable way to identify and treat possible cancer risks. There is no advantage to holding off until old age to check the risks. Colon polyps often begins during adolescence and can progress to cancer at the age of forty to fifty years. General health advice is a colonoscopy for fifty years and if all goes well, repeat the tests at intervals of 10 years.

What causes colon cancer

October 4th, 2009

What causes colon cancer

There are numerous "triggers" of colon cancer and a person will probably never find exactly what caused their cancer in particular. Most colon cancers are caused when the colon polyps in the change in non-cancerous tumor. Most clinical trials focused on patient populations and therefore very little the average person becomes more confused when medical reports provide results from medical studies isolated.

Cancer is the name for the healthy cells that are increasingly out of control. Colon and rectal cells – which begin to divide too quickly – may lead to precancerous cells in your intestinal lining. These cells are called polyps. Cancer begins when a real area of abnormal cells become cancerous.

The medical scientists continue to search What causes normal cells to grow wildly. There are many possible causes of colon cancer, such as:

? Cancer elsewhere in the body? Some genetic diseases? What do you eat? Smoking cigarettes

Colorectal cancer is closely associated with certain other diseases. People at high risk include anyone with a history of colon polyps, inflammatory bowel disease or pancreatic, breast or ovarian cancer.

Certain inherited medical conditions such as familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) or Gardner syndrome. These people are almost certain to develop colorectal cancer without early treatment.

What you eat may be making a problem, although cause and effect, and is still uncertain. Fruits and vegetables seem to reduce the risk of colon cancer. Although not know for animal fats and proteins appear to be promoters of colon cancer. It may not be fat and protein, but the cooking method is usually at high temperatures and can produce carcinogenic potential colorectal cancer-related.

Smoking cigarettes is a risk factor for colon cancer. Although smoking does not directly cause cancers of the colon, it weakens the body in many ways and has no health benefits.

Cancer elsewhere in the body can spread in the colon and colon cancer cause. This is called metastasis. Some medical scientists believe that cancer can spread without metastasis. This occurs, they shall, where the original cancer site sends chemicals that trigger other sites (in the colon, for example) to become cancerous.

My family are killed by smoking, lung cancer is

Grandparents on both sides of my family died of lung cancer and an aunt. My grandparents and aunt smoked for years and lung cancer was the result. Many people get cancer and never did anything, at least they were aware of, to get it.

But in May they have acquired, and whatever type of cancer it is, it affects those who love them. But if you smoke, stop. I know it’s hard, I smoked too much, but if you do not stop, you might even lung cancer and die. Is the value of your next breath? Think about who will miss you. My grandfather is the one I saw up close. He also had a throat cancer and had his larynx removed. He went from being a very active man with a withered shell who could not speak. It was very sad.

Some people go through life and not a person that likes to have cancer, but this is rare. I have many friends who have gone through breast cancer, colon cancer, cancer of the prostate, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and they all survived. I celebrate their time here yet.

While time has made a difference as a cancer treatment was not as advanced, when my grandparents had cancer.

Those who develop cancer are not the only victims. Cancer impacts families and friends too. If you are a smoker, seriously consider quitting. If you know a smoker, do not harass them to stop smoking, tell them you love them.

Cancer is bad, do what you can avoid it, and if someone you love gets it, and cherish the time you have with them. This is good advice even without cancer. Cherish your loved ones and tell them.

Colon health problems – Your health is at risk?

Many people suffer from health problems related colon today. There are so many different types of cancer of the colon (large intestine) problems, it is difficult to believe. Did you know that in 2005 the United States of America, 72,007 men and 69,398 women were diagnosed with colorectal cancer (colon) cancer? Shocking, 26,781 men and 27,259 women died of colon cancer in the same year. Most people know someone close to them who has suffered from the disease or a similar disease. It has become an epidemic in our society.

It is very important to consult a provider of health care that can treat and diagnose these problems. But first, how do you know if you have any problems with your large intestine? Here is a list of common disorders on the inner critic.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS is a disorder that affects the gastrointestinal tract is the most common health problem associated colon that doctors see today. The cause is unknown and symptoms include bloating, pain, gassiness abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation and blood in stool. These symptoms tend to worsen during periods of stress, poor diet and certain sexual activities.

Treatment of IBS includes changes in diet, change lifestyle and sometimes medication. Staying away from certain foods can help prevent bloating and gassiness as beans, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

Another common treatment is the addition of fiber in the diet. It helps reduce the chances that the gut is spasm as he digests food. Adding fiber to the diet also contributes to regular bowel movements and reduces the risk of constipation.

Stress also causes flare-ups of IBS occur. Through regular exercise and a balanced diet, you can reduce some stress and other problems associated with the disease.

Smoking can also aggravate the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and food can make IBS worse.

Constipation

It is important to understand that constipation is not a disease, it is a symptom. Constipation occurs when stool is tempered because it does not contain enough water. This condition is hard stools and may also mean difficulty passing stool said. Many people today suffer from this health problem related colon, but it can be treated.

A person with a blockage will feel less stool, usually there will be three movements per day to three trips per week. If the bowels are not moved for three days straight, There may be pain and difficulty when defecating.

There are many causes of constipation, such as not eating enough fiber, certain medications, being pregnant, IBS, ignoring the desire to make a saddle, and the use of laxatives too.

There are several ways to prevent and alleviate this evil, eating more fiber (try flaxseeds, rice bran, oat bran, beans, peas, apples, pears, blueberries), regular exercise, drink plenty of fluids especially water, avoid using over the counter laxatives and go to the bathroom the same time each day.

There are also many types of products available colon cleansing that you can look online or at your health food store. Having an enema to empty the intestines and feces to help pass more easily. Enemas can be purchased over the counter and work by inserting a tube into the rectum and flowing water in the intestine. Water was then retained for a period of about ten minutes, then released.

Another choice of cleaning the colon is a colonic irrigation. A doctor or dentist performs the colon, the patient lying on a table and have a tube inserted into the rectum allowing water to flow into and out of the intestine take waste out of the colon. Colonics are generally more comfortable than using an enema.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea is the frequent passage of loose watery stools accompanied by bloating and gas. Diarrhea is a symptom not a disease Although complications can often cause serious diseases. The most serious problem caused by diarrhea is dehydration, because the stool is usually watery, it causes the body to lose too much water. The diarrhea is often accompanied by vomiting, which causes the body to lose water.

Diarrhea can be caused by a number of things such as viral infections, bacterial, and IBS.

The disease usually disappears boring within two to three days without medical treatment. Many people can be treated at home by drinking lots of water and eating normally. Some medications can be used to treat diarrhea such as loperamide and some antibiotics.

Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is essentially an inflammation of the colon. There are many different causes of colitis, including poor circulation, infections and autoimmune reactions. Viruses and bacteria are the cause of many different types of intestinal infections. Most come from food poisoning, E. coli, Shigella and Salmonella can cause colitis.

Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, blood in stool, a consistent desire to go to the bathroom, often constant pain, fever and chills.

The colitis treatment includes antibiotics, intravenous fluids, and a combination of drugs that are given to the patient and then monitored for a period of time.

Crohn’s disease

Crohn’s disease affects approximately 500,000 people in the United States today. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, it causes inflammation and swelling in the digestive tract. It usually affects the small intestine and part of the colon and is often confused with other bowel disorders such as ulcerative colitis, IBD and diverticulitis.

Symptoms of Crohn’s disease are persistent diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps and fatigue. There is no cure, but there are many treatments to help manage the disease and the symptoms keep coming back for a long period of time. Treatments include aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, immune modifiers, biological treatments and antibiotics.

Some people with the disease may even have to have surgery at some point in their lives. The surgery can clear the intestinal obstruction, treatment of symptoms of drugs could not, and to repair damage to the intestine.

Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal (colon) cancer occurs when tumors form in the large intestine and / or rectum. Sometimes benign tumors called polyps form in the intestine, whereas malignant tumors in cancers of the large intestine are called. Benign polyps can be removed during a colonoscopy and they are not fatal. If polyps are not removed, malignant cancers can form over time.

Colorectal cancer can be inherited or caused by a diet high in fat, the presence of polyps in the bowel and chronic ulcerative colitis. As you already know May, it is fatal in some cases, but sometimes can be treated.

Surgery is the most common treatment for this type of intestinal cancer. During the operation, the tumor is removed. The patient is then monitored and tested to ensure that the cancer has not spread to other organs, but if she has more surgery may be necessary and, or, chemotherapy is administered.

Colon cancer is the most fatal of all the problems related to colon health. This is why it is so important to take care of themselves having a balanced diet, exercise regularly and report any discrepancies to your doctor.
